Hi everyone. I am 57 years old female (soon I am going to be 58). Taken this drug for curing hepatitis c. really hope I won’t need to take it ever again. I have had or maybe I am still having type 3 of it. not sure so far. I have had to take sofosbuvir and ribavirin treatment for 24 weeks and I really hope that it was worth it because it has been 24 weeks of hell for me. personally I think that I have had every single side effect that have been listed there and even some more. really hope that I won’t need to take it ever again… I am serious though that in the beginning the dosage that I have been taking was soo damn high that I was thinking that I am going to die because of it (and I think that it really might have happened). Then the docs have finally lowered it because my red blood cell count has been soooo low that I needed to give myself some shots of epogen in order to fix my blood. As other people have mentioned, sometimes the virus can return back after the patient stops the treatment. my treatment has stopped in January. I have had my last test not so long ago in march and my hep c genotype 3 has still not been detected in my blood and although there are chances that it still might return – they are small so I guess that I am finally cured. However, I have to mention that I am still nowadays having lasting side effects from the drug (although I’ve said that I already finished the treatment in January) and to be honest I really do not think that I would ever be my old self once again. anyway, at this moment I am still live as you can see so I guess it is not that bad after all. however you really should be prepared when you try something. I really suggest everybody else that before you at least think to try it then you should be careful in reading everything that you can and to talk to your doctor about the side effects that might happen. There have been nobody who has told me anything regarding the side effects and when they have appeared on me like a huge wave then I was… let’s say unhappy…

I have taken the combination of ribavirin with sofosbuvir (My Hep) when it just came out in 2014. I need to mention that I have had genotype 3 of the Hepatitis C (I have been a habitual IV drug user) and for those who don’t know it – it is having a much lower success rate than the genotypes 1 and 2 (it is believed that it is having a success rate at about 25% lower) that is why I have already been prepared to be disappointed (I’ve been thinking that it won’t help but I did tried it because I thought that it won’t hurt me so… anyway. the time of getting it came and I have tried to be very careful about it because I said to myself: even if it won’t work then at least I would know that it did not happened because of my fault but it really did not worked for me. that is why I have tried very hard to dose at the same time very day, every single day as I was not missing a single dose. Generally I have tried to follow my doctor instructions at the best, never forgot anything and never done anything that I should know (during the treatment period). besides, I have to say that I have pre planned my TX thoroughly due to the fact that I am having a history of some very bad luck with my physical health that is why I wanted to be prepared. As I already mentioned it once – I’ve tried to make it the best possible way so I could know that even if it won’t help – it is not my fault. However, in approximately 4 weeks or so during my treatment I have gotten checked and I’ve been said that my levels of hepatitis c virus are undetectable! It was a very pleasant shock for me. but, I have to say that not all that good working without any side effects, of course. I have been feeling like a total crap and I have even had hallucinations in the first month of using it. I have been said (and I’ve tried to research as much as I can about it) and I have found out that this is rare what happened to me, however it was not fun at all. I have to say that as soon as I have got off the medications these side effects have finally subsided (all of them), however I was feeling very bad overall for the entire half a year period while I was on the drug. oh yeah. I’ve read (while researching) online that there are people who are getting back the hepatitis c after a while after they stop with the treatment. it is not the case with this drug (or at least to me) because I have finished my course more than a year ago and my levels of this virus are still undetectable that is why I can safely say that this drug really cures the hepatitis.
